Guide
Copy trades across brokers
Run one copy group across Tradovate, Rithmic and TopstepX accounts: how cross-broker copying works, symbol mapping, and what to check.
A copy group doesn't have to stay on one broker. A Tradovate leader can drive Rithmic and TopstepX followers, or the other way round. This is useful when your accounts are spread across firms on different platforms.
How it works
Edgeable holds a separate connection to each broker. When the leader fills, it sends each follower's order over that follower's own connection, in parallel. A slow or failing broker only delays its own followers; the rest carry on.
Set it up
- Connect each broker from Accounts: Tradovate, Rithmic, TopstepX. Each broker login counts as a connection on your plan.
- Create a copy group and add followers from any of them. See map a leader and followers.
- Check the Symbol map. Edgeable maps symbols through a canonical root (for example NQ), so the follower receives the right contract for its broker. The preview shows the contract each follower will get.
- Run Test copy and confirm every route resolves.
What differs between brokers
- Fill prices. Each follower's order is filled by its own broker, so prices can differ slightly from the leader and from each other, especially on market orders in a fast market.
- Rejects. Brokers apply their own checks. A reject on one follower doesn't affect the others; Activity shows the broker's reason as it was sent.
- Trading hours and contract rolls. Make sure every follower's broker is trading the same front-month contract, and check the symbol map around rollover.
- Session expiry. Each connection can expire on its own schedule. The Heartbeat page shows each connection's state.
