Futures Prop Firms Compared (October 2026): The 50K Rules, Side by Side

People search for "the best prop firm," but the right firm depends on how you trade. A scalper who gives back open profit should care about intraday vs end-of-day drawdown; a trader who has one big day a week should care about the consistency rule; a trader running several accounts should care about copy-trading policy and account caps.

Last checked: 14 October 2026. Rules change often; the firm's own page always wins.

So this page doesn't rank firms. It puts the 50K evaluation rules of four widely used futures firms side by side, quoted from each firm's own help center, so you can compare them against your own trading.

Disclosure: Edgeable is trade-copying software, not a prop firm. We aren't affiliated with or endorsed by these firms, and this isn't a recommendation of any of them. Inclusion: we list firms whose 50K figures we could verify on their own help pages on the check date. Firms not listed (e.g. Tradeify, Take Profit Trader, FundedNext Futures, Alpha Futures) aren't excluded for any other reason; we'll add them as we verify them.

All five have a $3,000 target and a $2,000 maximum drawdown on 50K. Summary of the table above; the firm's own page always wins.

What the differences mean in practice

Drawdown model matters more than the dollar amount

All four list $2,000 on a 50K. But an intraday trailing drawdown moves your floor up with open profit, while an EOD model moves it only on closing balances. If your trades often run up and pull back, the same $2,000 behaves very differently. Model your own days in the trailing drawdown calculator.

Daily loss limit: protection or constraint

A daily limit that pauses the session (Apex EOD, Topstep's optional DLL, MFFU's add-on) stops one bad day from taking the whole drawdown. Plans without one leave that discipline to you.

Consistency rules change how you size big days

With a 50% rule on a $3,000 target, a $2,000 day means you need $4,000 total before you qualify. Topstep's 55% rule raises the target to best day ÷ 0.55. Check yours with the consistency calculator.

Contract caps change which instruments fit

A 3-mini cap (MFFU Flex) vs a 6-contract cap (Apex) matters if you trade minis; for most evaluation sizing on micros it rarely binds. See the position size calculator.

Running several accounts

If you plan to copy one strategy across accounts, compare account caps, hedging rules and copier policies, and where orders are allowed to originate. Details in copy-trading rules by prop firm.

Questions to ask before you buy any evaluation

  1. Is the drawdown EOD, intraday trailing or static, and where does it lock?
  2. Is there a daily loss limit, and does hitting it fail the account or pause it?
  3. What's the consistency rule, in the evaluation and at payout?
  4. What are the contract limits, and how do micros count?
  5. What are the activation fees, reset costs and monthly fees? (Check the firm's pricing page on the day.)
  6. What are the payout rules: minimum days, buffers, caps, split?
  7. Which platforms and copiers are allowed?
  8. What does independent review data say? Read recent reviews and the firm's own terms, not only comparison sites.

Questions people ask

What is the best futures prop firm in 2026?

There isn't a single answer; it depends on your drawdown preference, whether you want a daily loss limit, how consistent your days are, and how many accounts you run. Use the table to match rules to your trading, and verify on the firm's site.

Which prop firms use an end-of-day drawdown?

On the pages we checked: Topstep (Combine MLL), Apex's EOD evaluation, MyFundedFutures Flex and LucidFlex. Apex also offers an intraday-trailing evaluation.

Which prop firms have no consistency rule in the evaluation?

Of the plans above, Apex lists consistency as "Not Applied" in both evaluation types (it's introduced in the PA phase). Rules change; check before you buy.

Do these firms allow trade copiers?

All four allow some form of copying between your own accounts, with conditions: see the table and our copy-trading rules page.

Why don't you list prices?

Prices and promotions change weekly and would make the table stale. Check each firm's pricing page on the day you buy.

How often is this page updated?

At least monthly. The check date is at the top.

Running accounts at more than one of these firms?

Edgeable copies from one leader to followers on Tradovate and Rithmic, with each account's own multiplier, max contracts and daily loss limit. Runs in the cloud. Check every firm's copier rules first; our prop firm list links to them. See how it works →
