Managing five or more prop evaluations at once
A practical system for running several futures prop evaluations and funded accounts from one leader: grouping, sizing, daily checks and knowing when to stop.
Running one evaluation is a trading problem. Running five or more is also an operations problem: logins, sizes, daily limits and reset dates all multiply. Here's a system that keeps it manageable.
1. One leader, clear groups
Trade one leader and copy it. Then split followers into copy groups by what they have in common, not by firm:
- By stage: evaluations in one group, funded accounts in another. Funded accounts often deserve smaller size.
- By size: 50K accounts together, 150K accounts together, so one ratio and one set of guardrails suits the group.
Each group has its own guardrails, so you can be aggressive in one and careful in another without micromanaging accounts.
2. Write the rules down once
For each account, note the firm, platform, size, daily loss limit, max drawdown type, contract limit, any consistency rule and the reset or expiry date. It takes twenty minutes and saves you from the mistake that fails an account on a technicality.
3. Size from the tightest account
In each group, the account with the tightest limit sets the pace. Put its daily loss inside your group's max daily loss, and cap contracts on each follower to its own limit. See ratios and contract sizing.
4. A two-minute pre-session check
- Every connection is live (Accounts, or the Heartbeat page).
- The groups you want are armed; the ones you don't are not.
- No account is locked out from yesterday unless you meant it to be.
- You know today's economic events. The Cockpit's Calendar can schedule a lockout around them.
5. Review after the session
Look at Activity for rejects and partial fills, and the Journal for each account's day. A reject you didn't notice is a follower that's out of sync with the others.
6. Know when to stop
Correlated accounts fail together. If the leader has a bad day, every follower does. Decide in advance what loss on the leader means you stop for the day, and use a hard lockout to enforce it.
