The road to consistent profitability

A process-first guide to trading funded futures accounts with discipline — position sizing, a repeatable routine, and the numbers that actually tell you if you're improving.

Consistency is not a strategy — it is what a strategy produces once the operator stops sabotaging it. Most traders do not lose because their setup is wrong; they lose because size, routine and record-keeping are inconsistent from one day to the next. This guide is about the operating side you can actually control. It is educational, not investment advice, and nothing here promises a profit.

Define an edge you can repeat

An edge is a small, describable advantage you can execute the same way every time — a specific setup, in specific conditions, with a defined entry, stop and target. If you cannot write it on an index card, you cannot repeat it, and if you cannot repeat it you cannot measure it.

The goal at this stage is not to be right often. It is to be consistent enough that your results describe the setup rather than your mood. Everything after this depends on it.

Size to survive variance, not to get rich

Even a genuine edge loses several times in a row on a normal distribution. Position size is what decides whether a losing streak is a rough week or a blown account. Fix your risk per trade as a small, constant fraction of the account, and let the number of contracts follow the stop distance — not your confidence.

This is exactly where a copier earns its place operationally: set the size once per account and every follower is dispatched at the size you intended, so a good idea is not quietly turned into an oversized position across a stack.

  • Risk a fixed, small fraction per trade — decided before the session
  • Let contracts follow the stop, not the setup you 'really like'
  • Never average down into a loser to rescue a bad entry

Run the same routine every session

Profitable operation looks boring from the outside: the same pre-market prep, the same trading window, the same walk-away rule. A daily loss limit and a max-trades ceiling remove the two decisions you make worst — whether to keep going after a loss, and whether to add 'just one more'.

Set those limits per account so the copy layer enforces them for you. The point is not that the software is smarter than you; it is that it is not tired, tilted or hopeful at 2pm.

Measure the things that predict improvement

Your P&L is a lagging, noisy signal. The numbers that tell you whether you are getting better are process numbers: did you take only your defined setups, did you honour your stop, did you stop at your limit. Track those and the P&L follows on a long enough timeline.

Review weekly, not trade-by-trade. One trade is noise; twenty trades of the same setup is data. This is the rhythm the Stack Brief is built around.

How Edgeable fits

None of this needs a copier to be true — but a copier is how you enforce it across a stack without doing it by hand. Edgeable dispatches the size you set to every account and holds each one inside its own daily loss, contract and order limits, so discipline is applied the same way on every follower.
