Copying trades on prop firms

How to run a copier across evaluations and funded accounts without treating guardrails as a compliance guarantee.

· 6 min read

Running one strategy across a stack of evaluations and funded accounts is exactly what a copier is for. It is also where the most expensive mistakes happen, because the rules that matter are set by the firm, not by the software. This is how to think about it.

The rules belong to the firm, and they change

Copying policies, consistency rules and drawdown calculations differ between firms and can change without notice. Topstep, Apex, MyFundedFutures, Tradeify and others each score risk their own way. Before you connect an account, confirm that your use of a copier is permitted under that firm's current agreement — not last season's.

Edgeable is trade execution software. Compatibility means it can interoperate with a broker or platform; it does not imply a partnership or an endorsement, and it does not move responsibility for a rule breach away from you.

Guardrails reduce mistakes; they are not compliance

Per-account daily loss limits, max contracts, order caps and panic flatten let the copy layer respect how each firm scores risk, and firm-aware presets give you a sensible starting point instead of a blank form. Set them once per follower and they are enforced on every signal.

But a guardrail depends on broker connectivity, accurate account data and correct configuration by you. It is a tool to help you stay inside your own rules — not a guarantee that a firm's evaluation is passed or a funded account is safe. Keep watching the accounts.

  • Set daily loss and contract caps per follower, not once for the whole group
  • Re-check firm rules before each new evaluation, not just at first setup
  • Keep direct broker access available so you can intervene manually

Mixed-firm groups, one operating view

When the platforms you use are supported, you can run a single leader into followers across different firms in one copy group — a Tradovate leader into Topstep, Apex and MyFundedFutures followers, for example — and watch per-follower sync while you trade. One view, many accounts, each on its own connection.

Common questions

Does Edgeable guarantee my prop-firm account stays compliant?

No. Firm rules are set by the firm and change without notice. Guardrails are configurable tools to help you stay inside your own rules, not a guarantee of compliance.

Can I copy across different prop firms at once?

Yes, when the platforms are supported. A single leader can drive followers across multiple firms in one copy group, each on a dedicated connection.

Edgeable is trade execution software. It does not provide investment advice, recommendations or signals, and it does not guarantee any trading outcome. Futures trading involves substantial risk of loss.
